Like any game, The Forest is better with friends. Exploring caves, building a base, and fighting enemies is a lot more fun with a group and helps add a lot to this game which otherwise feels slightly half-baked at times. The combat is awkward, critical items aren't telegraphed making them easy to miss, and the overall experience is filled with jank. The need to constantly open up your inventory in order to swap or craft items and the incessant babysitting of survival meters felt more a hindrance than thoughtful game design, but that could also be my general bias against survival crafting games. That said, it was a lot of fun to uncover this game's secrets with my friends and I will definitely be checking out the sequel at some time.
