Blasphemous is great in a way that I'm excited for its sequel to iron out the wrinkles. The game has an awesome sense of style with amazing art direction and an intricately crafted world. The gameplay largely feels tight and it's satisfying to counter enemy attacks. There are rewarding secrets, memorable bosses, and some fascinating characters. The combat and exploration does feel a little clunky at times, such as when crouch attacking or blocking attacks which go right past you. The relic system seems somewhat pointless--I wish that they were permanently equipped instead of requiring you to choose three, there seemed to be no good reason for this. Aside from these complaints, I had a great time with Blasphemous and I'm excited to play its recently released sequel.
