Of the big names in action rougelites, Gungeon is probably the most balanced. It's incredibly skill-based, with tight controls and consistent and readable boss patterns. Unfortunately, I think this balance sometimes comes at the game's detriment- bad runs are never the absolute slog found in some of Gungeon's contemporaries, but good runs also rarely, if ever, reach the game-breaking heights found in other titles.
