Clearing My Backlog #14
I’ve already gone over everything I want to say regarding this game in my episodic [1, 2, 3, 4, 5] reviews, but just to summarize; Minecraft: Story Mode is one of Telltale’s worst. It’s amateurishly made, with no care put into any aspect; whether it’s the lackluster story that’s stretched into five episodes despite only having enough material for three, or the characters that don’t change enough over the course of the game to warrant you sitting through hours of painfully generic dialogue and forced conflicts. Not to mention the absolutely horrible sound design, laughable voice acting, uninspired music, the often annoying overtly kid-friendly tone that hampers the story and choices, and the outdated look of the game due to Telltale’s previously shit engine. None of it works, besides some neat additions to the world of Minecraft that I would’ve liked to see in the actual game it’s based on.
