This game is amazing, and even if you aren't a fan of RPGs, I'd 100% recommend that you check it out. It improves upon the original game greatly in many ways.

The story is really good, though not as good as the other Persona games. Where this game truly shines is the incredible gameplay with a lot of depth. The battles were really fun and I never got tired of them in the game. I never even used Ryuji's insta-kill ability in the main palaces, though I did use it in Mementos. The fusion system is surprisingly fun, and I spent hours in there just fusing powerful personas for fun. The confidants are all great too.

All the new content added is great, but some of it doesn't fit as well as others. The new palace however was amazing and by far my favorite.

However this game shines the brightest with the new villain.
MAJOR SPOILER WARNING!!! PLAY THE FUCKING GAME THIS IS A TWIST VILLAIN TRUST ME YOU DO NOT WANT IT SPOILED!!!!

Dr Maruki is my favorite antagonist of all time. Most antagonists in gaming usually have at least something fucked up about them. even if it's minor, they've always done something wrong, or their goals can only be achieved through doing bad.

You have villains like Thanos or Light Yagami who have goals people may agree with, but the methods they use to get to these goals are fucked up. However, Dr Maruki is the only time ive seen an antagonist that not only has never done anything bad, but also has a goal that many would agree with. it's to the point where neither side is correct honestly, and I've literally seen people get upset that they had to go with the Phantom Thieves in taking them down because they fully agreed with Dr Maruki (even though the game allows you to choose any ending you want and the only thing you miss out on is a single bossfight. you can even do the entire palace and can get the platinum trophy as well). Also Dr Maruki fits perfectly into the P5 story, not feeling like a forced new addition.

Overall, Royal is an incredible game that I would recommend to anyone. It has problems, but not nearly as much as vanilla Persona 5.
