I'm honestly really surprised with just how much I enjoyed this game.

Like everyone, I saw this game initially as a joke, and bought it as such. "Haha, this is the true power of the PS5!" and shit like that. However, after playing it, I was blown away by how much I enjoyed the game.

The actual hunting part of the game is really good. Each Bugsnax has a different way of being captured, and you can capture multiple in different ways. You get a wide array of tools to use, which you can use together as well. For example, you can use a launchpad to launch a net with syrup that attracts bugsnax.

The characters were the most surprising part however, as they were actually really fucking well written. All felt like actual people, with different relations to one another. The people (or Wumpuses, but I'm not calling them that) didn't just happily get along, there was a lot of discourse over shit like whether bugsnax are pets or food, or ideas on how the village should be run. Even by the end of the game, the village is still barely holding together with everyone as they can't stop arguing.

The story was also great. There was a big twist that was surprisingly dark for this game, and one that fit in perfectly. There was also the reveal at the end that set up a sequel, which was both fucking hilarious by how stupid it was and incredibly intriguing as I want to know more and play more.

Overall this game is a fucking really great anomaly. It's genuinely hilarious because of how stupid it all is, but it grabs your attention and curiosity so well and you wanna know more about the lives of these stupid muppets.
