This review contains spoilers
(Note: This review is old and likely doesn't match my current opinion. Will likely rewrite in the future)
Not as good as 4, but still a really great game, especially when it comes to combat.
The combat has been improved by a lot, making it so you have to more strategically think about the moves you give your demons rather than just slapping all moves on your entire party. However if you take advantage of these new features, you can become even more powerful then you ever could in 4, which I love too.
The characters are a strong criticism against this game. I don't think they are that bad, hell I like a lot of them... buuuut there is one exception:
Toki.
Fuck Toki.
You have this interesting character who has A LOT of shit about her past to be explored, like her basically being a fucking tool for the Ring of Gaea, however rather than exploring that AT ALL they just make her apart of this shitty love triangle with Nanashi and Asahi. I've genuinely never seen a game fuck up a character this badly.
Outside of that though, this game is just really good. I especially loved the final boss, fighting YHVH is badass, though part of me wishes he could be summoned.
