Easily the worst of the classic Mega Man games. I went into this only remembering the teehee funny voice acting, but unfortunately did not remember just how unfun and frustrating it could be.
Mega Man 8 starts out okay, the first few stages are decent and the weapons can be pretty fun (although I'm not sure how intended the mega ball jumping thing was). Only after the first batch of robot masters (because they are once again split into halves of four for whatever reason) does the game start to go downhill real quick.
Notable stages that I had some problems with and just didn't enjoy in general, Astro Man and Wily Fortress 1. Really any of the snowboarding/Rush Jet sections. Fun idea, had they not lasted as long as they did.
To move onto my problem with every stage, there is absolutely nothing else to them. Rush parts/letters are removed in favor of upgrades that one will rarely use upon beating certain mini bosses. Instead, the only collectibles scattered throughout the levels are bolts, which can be used to buy very minor upgrades from Roll. No Rush Adapter, no Beat, hell, not even any E-tanks. It just makes the game feel all the more empty.
4/10, there is nothing special about Mega Man 8. What would've been at the very least an extremely mediocre game is brought down by the fact that everything before it just handles every aspect so much better.
