A game with a fragile atmosphere accentuated by pulsing, enchanting boss battles all set to an incredible soundtrack by Hayato Asano, one that I wouldn't even hesitate to say puts this score among the best music in video games.

The RPG mechanics have a lot of theoretical depth, but the facile combat renders much of it superfluous but it ultimately doesn't matter - the game's 14 hour runtime would rather you remember it for the aforementioned boss battles that it's framed around.

Certainly some questionable aspects exist, which have me ponder who the intended audience for this game is, but I've seen a lot worse so it didn't bother me too much, but perhaps that's not good either.

The best among its immediate peers from Gust (being Atelier Firis and Nights of Azure 2, two of the most disappointing games I've ever played!) but it would be a feat if it wasn't considering it does the bare minimum of looking good and running well.
