This is the Willy's Chocolate Experience of Golden Axe games.

A novel concept for a Golden Axe spinoff, this features Zelda-esque overworld with random encounters that play out as mini side scrolling brawler battles, with larger side scrolling dungeons on the map. Very simple stick and poke combat and battles that can occur every couple of steps make this a bummer after a while, but it's at least interesting for the Game Gear.

Is it an awful platformer? Is it a Dragon Quest ripoff with only the least fun things of that game included? Why not both!

I was going to see it to the end anyway until I found out that there's no final boss battle. It goes to a cutscene where your character and the big bad (who we never see) has a confrontation that could be summed up as "hahaha, you'll never beat me now!" "oh yeah? take that!" "curses! you haven't seen the last of me!" One of the most shocking endings to a game I've ever seen in my life
