Upa is the prince of a magical kingdom and the most recent in a line of brave fighters. One day, though, he broke an urn containing the spirit of Zai, an incredibly evil goatish demon who takes the life force of the kingdom's adults and kidnaps all the babies - except for Upa, who is given a magical rattle by a fairy who was trapped in the urn along with Zai. And so, in order to save his kingdom, Upa crawls into action...

One of the best baby-like games on the planet

how come Little Baby didn't become a Mario-like figure

A surprisingly creative platformer on top of being colorful and cute. Nice music rounds it out.

Game Review - originally written by Spinner 8

Not many games are audacious enough as to make you play the entire game as a baby. I mean, you’re not even some kind of genius super baby, like in Captain Commando! You fucking CRAWL AROUND ON THE GROUND. And when you get all powered up, you walk on your feet, and it’s just the most amazing damn thing you’ve ever seen. It’s like when you see Professor Xavier walk around in the X-Men movies and you’re all wowed, and then you’re like, “oh duh, of COURSE Patrick Stewart can frickin’ walk.”

And your weapon? A rattle. Honestly, your baby character isn’t very Bio Miraculous, but your rattle is pretty kickass. You can whack a monster with it and it’ll get big and float away. Then you can jump on top of it and ride on top of it for a little while. Or, you can jump INTO it, and it’ll fly off and hit other enemies. This is how you get rid of the bosses. Pretty clever! They try and mix it up with a SMB2-style digging level (think World 2/World 6) and a swimming level and stuff, but it just gets annoying. The game proper is a lot of fun, though.
(editor's note: I agree I like this game a lot, it feels a little dated by late-late NES standards but it's a pretty darn good 1988 Konami game which is saying a lot, they probably should've brought it over but they already opened a shell company under Ultra to get around the 5 games per year limit because they were making too many bangers)

A silly 2D platformer that stood in Japan. Music and visuals are nice, again, standard Konami fare. The mechanic with hitting enemies and bumping them was a bit annoying to deal with because you can hit yourself while doing that. Overall, it's a fun time.
