I find this game to be quite innovative for the puzzle/sokoban genre, especially contextualizing it in 2012. Conceptually, it represents the outcome of one's actions in the world.
In order to achieve a specific goal and enhance their score, players are willing to make use of unnatural resources, and in the case of "Corrypt," this is symbolized by the acquisition and utilization of magic. This is followed up by a gradual alteration (and destruction) of the in-game world, contingent upon the player's choices and interactions with individual puzzles.

The developer, Michael Brough, strongly emphasizes this game design concept: he wants the player to always feel compelled to make choices, with no shortcuts that overly simplify the gameplay. Through destruction, new challenges simultaneously arise, to be overcome with that very magic which messed everything up: to be fair, blame always lies with the individual who acts, not with the tool they use to act. By employing magic on a tile in one room, some sort of corruption manifests in the exact corresponding position in all the other rooms, annihilating creatures and level design. This compels the player to improvise, take risks, and accept the consequences of their actions.

Ironically, "Corrypt," in its simplicity, is one of those games where one's choices genuinely have long-term in-game effects.
