Yk, I only bought this because it was in a collection whose name was EXTREMELY funny (Google cosmo dreamer collection, I am not typing it out fully), and I wanted it on my shelf, but honestly? This game was fun as hell. I love top down shooters and this was a very chaotic and fun one. The shield mechanic gave it a unique edge. I had fun!
about two months ago i came home from work to my power being out after a particularly deadly snowstorm that swept the northeast. i didn't have much to do within this darkness, however i did purchase Cosmo Dreamer for my switch a few days prior so i decided hey, why the heck not. lets boot it up!
my first impressions looking at a game like this were not positive admittedly, i viewed the cartoony style as being slightly amateurish and something i would only play for maybe twenty minutes and drop, presumably making a laughing stock of its ezpz difficulty that i was faced with. buuut was i happily wrong! this turned out to be about as difficult as any other bullet hell would or should be. do not be decieved folks.
and not only that, but did I start to fall for the art style too. if somebody told me that the aesthetic of this game was as if NiGHTS Into Dreams was a shmup I probably would have purchased immediately, but nowhere online did I ever see that correlation made!! the color scheme is mostly of a purple hue, and the story's subject matter involves dreaming and flying throughout the wonderous cosmos..
soon, as i sat in my shoddy computer chair, my room solely illuminated by the waves of bullets the screen was filling up with did i realize that those "twenty minutes" that i once joked about turned into four hours, a second realization being made that i had a dumb smile on my face for a large portion of it, and that my cheeks started to grow sore from the amount of fun i was having. eventually i completed the Trial mode on my first try and eventually decided to hit the sack, staying up any later causing me to be late for work the next morning
in conclusion, if you are at all on the fence about this one and you even slightly enjoy shmups, this is one that goes on sale for very cheap and even at the standard price is still very low!! i think 6.79 or something ridiculous. the positive reception is so well deserved and i hope you will have as good of a time as i did playing it and seeing the increasingly insane bullet patterns that you will be greeted with. excited to delve into Like Dreamer!

Really great shmup that is unique and full of original ideas in the attack patterns and enemy design. I had a blast playing this.

Absolutely lovely game. If you're even remotely keen towards shmups you're going to like this for sure.
