Hmm ... the setting is interesting with a darker spin on a weird anime game, but it really is a weird anime game trough and trough meaning that it really feels cringe and weird when you play it. The voice-acting gives me shivers and it just feels like a weeb game which is really sad. The combat is ... well ... standard and the overall story up to the point I played was boring. The dialogues felt really cringe and as someone who already doesn't like anime finds all the aspects that I don't like about the genre combined in this game. So I would never suggest anyone I know playing it. But the starting screen looks pretty cool.

No words can really describe how much this game blows in comparison to the first game...or just as a game in general.
Somehow, for being a sequel, DeRQ2 does everything worse and feels less polished than its predecessor. Every "plot twist" had me rolling my eyes wondering how they got from the first game to here.

They can barely even get the yuri right so it's not even something I can salvage from this mess...

Compared to the original this is terrible, I still hope it gets a third game to finish the story but man....

A very bizarre game constantly jumping between tones with an incredibly unique combat system mixed with a horror visual novel. I don't think it all comes together perfectly but an incredible breath of fresh air and full of interesting ideas.

Worse(or at least more confusing) story and characters compared to the original, but more than makes up for it with the variety in combat that allows more creativity and skill expression. Enemies in the late game still tend to be a bit too tanky but that's no longer the sole source of difficulty and the vast majority of them don't spam heals. The super knockback mechanic is fantastic.
Oddly enough, some complaints about the 'low budget' feeling from the first remain, notably the lack of sound effects during the Glitch attacks(is this intentional, because, ya know, glitch? It comes off as cheap, regardless.) and lack of variety in character and background animations during the VN portion. All in all, it's a sizeable improvement in gameplay and a small downgrade as a VN, so a small improvement from the first overall.

very underwhelming nice art style.
