This is a really cool game but also quite hardcore imo. I got to the second to last dungeon and was just so worn out from playing it. It got to the point where I couldn't survive more than a few encounters without hitting a game over or having to escape the dungeon. I do partly regret putting it down because it was rewarding to overcome the challenges in the game. But I just wasn't enjoying myself anymore.

Dungeon Travelers 2 is a quirky first person dungeon crawler RPG that contains a lot of... questionable artwork. If you're fine on playing a game with a lot of fanservice, and you're a fan of first person dungeon crawlers then this game is a must play.

Developed by Sting Entertainment, makers of the extremely difficult Yggdra Union, this was the Vita RPG that I was really hyped about. It has a really deep set of RPG mechanics including a diverse class system with multiple levels and different paths, equipment upgrading, skill trees, challenging encounters and bosses. On top of that, it has a pretty beefy runtime (took me 150+ hours with a bit of grinding). You think beating the story mode is where the game ends? Wait till you get to the post-game and find out that there are still multiple massive dungeons to explore!

This is one of the best RPGs on the Vita, period.

the older i get the less i can play games like this. I really really really want to get into it but then one of the party members falls and the MC spends 6 minutes looking at her panties or what ever. I just want to mindlessly grind through a dungeon and its impossible to find a dungeon crawler like this that isnt also extremly horny.

57 hours and done, after a monster 9-floor final dungeon. Some serious hack and slash action, with the same amount again (actually probably more) waiting in the post-game. In lieu of an impressions post I thought I'd do a plus and minus here. Minuses first:

- The tempo is a little uneven; animations occasionally take too long, casting in menus is stilted and friendly buffs appear one at a time.

- There's no backlog which makes some moves' outcomes a little confusing (and makes it hard to work out which new enemy just one-shotted your maid).

- There's no avoiding it - the artwork is completely unsuitable for outdoor play, in spite of it being a Vita title, and is enough for people to understandably be turned away from the game. I know it'd cost more, but if they wanted to go that extreme with the fanservice I would have really appreciated a content lock to tone things down and allow me to take it out and about.

Pluses:

- Fantastic audio. Great soundtrack (albeit low bitrate) and some high quality voice acting makes the game feel a lot more expensive than it undoubtedly is. The cast have a lot of character and the main character is surprisingly likeable.

- Much of the game is nice and fast. Movement's quick, loading is minimal - transitions into battle are instant which really makes a mimic a big surprise.

- Map design is OK but map variety is great. There's loads of map squares to fill in, including loads of optional/unlockable areas.

- The game balance gives a surprisingly good feeling of progression. Many's the time I've felt like my team's really settling in and then a new floor will make me have to re-evaluate some things. Lucky you can change classes without too much difficulty.

- The game advancement and battle systems are top drawer. Aquaplus, in spite of being more known as a VN studio, have put a lot of ideas into the mix - clearly they have plenty of fans of the genre on staff, helped out by RPG vets Sting. My favourite is the implementation of the Maid class; games have had supporter classes before but this is the first one I've genuinely enjoyed using, and definitely the first which has felt essential in a party. The berserker sub-classes are also a lot of fun as you desperately try to balance survivability with offence (while pumping skill points into your healer's resurrection skill...)

Overall, I'm really looking forward to the sequel in April. I've still got a foolish hope that there might be a clean version but I know that's not happening. As a result, I can't really recommend this to many people; it's definitely a case of looking it up and seeing if you would be comfortable with it.

A fairly average dungeon crawler RPG with a charming lighthearted atmosphere and fun party interactions. The girls are cute and I didn't even mind the male protag since most of the interactions aren't just girls blushing and falling all over him. Unfortunately, the genre is plagued with long slow grinds for boss fights and DT2 is no exception. The UI and battle effects are pretty lame and the enemy designs, while cute, aren't very interesting. I don't like the item identification system since it just makes exploration less exciting. A lot of items have useless descriptions and most gear you find only results in extremely minor upgrades, if any. I was happy to finally unlock class changes to spice things up a little, then I tried to install the double exp dlc to reduce the egregious grind and it broke the game so I couldn't play anymore RIP.

Incredibly long, really tough, and it broke me at the Gargoyle's fight. Looking back, I'm sure maybe I was being a blockhead with my party setups or something, but I FELT like I had a good setup at the time, yet I would repeatedly get crushed. I gave up, sold my copy, and haven't looked back...but what if?

The monstergirl designs are mostly A+ btw.
