I actually created my own entire clan on this game with their own story I played it that much. I always create myself along with friends and such but this game really unlocked my creativity in a way I didn't think it could and after 9 empires came out I discovered how to customise generics.

Honestly? Too barebones, which is a shame since DW8XL is the most complete Dynasty Warriors to date. I still boot this up and now again, I'm slowly making custom characters of historical figures to replace the generic models they have in the game, that is cool at least. But the customization and events that happen here are genuinely way too small when measured up against SW4: Empires and even the earlier DW7: Empires. The mechanics here honestly remind me of an early access game, it feels unfinished. I would recommend the beforementioned Empires games over this game, and likewise would just recommend the base DW8: XL over this one if you're considering which DW8-line game to get.

It sucks that after so many years the games are still the same but the missions are so memorable that for me it matters less.

you will get an extreme amount of dopamine playing this game! so cool!

I love my musous but I don't care too much for Empires. It doesn't actually require much strategy so it kind of just ends up being DW8 with much more repetitive battles that have a lot of tanky enemies in the later stages. At least it was funny seeing the game attempt to forge a child from my character and Ding Feng.

Got to fulfill my childhood dream of marrying Xiahou Dun, so that grants 4 out of 5 stars. The other one is because it's a good game.
