Eternal Card Game

released on Nov 15, 2018

Eternal is a free-to-play online collectible card video game developed and published by Dire Wolf Digital. Eternal is currently available for iPhone and iPad iOS devices on the App Store, PCs using Steam, and for Android devices using Google Play. It is also available on Xbox, and Nintendo Switch. The game features cross-platform play, allowing players to use any of the supported platforms to compete with each other. The game is a turn-based card game between two opponents that use constructed decks with various amounts of cards. Players use their power cards to cast spells, use attachments or summon units to attack the opponent, with the goal of reducing the opponent's health to zero. Winning matches and completing quests will earn in-game gold, rewards in the form of new cards or packs, and other in-game prizes. Players can then buy card packs or buy access to card drafting modes by using gold or microtransactions to collect cards for their decks. The game features several modes of play, including ranked matches and single-player campaigns. New content for the game involves the addition of new card sets and gameplay, taking the form of either expansion packs or campaigns that reward the player with collectible cards upon completion.

in the base launch i got to legend without spending any money. shame now there are a lot of expansions and the game is kinda expensive, but arena and hearthstone could learn something about game economies from this one.

ah the game is pretty cool i guess

Finished the very short story of this card-battler type game. Was okay to play with my bud, but dropped it pretty quick.

A fun MTG-but-not-MTG game. Wasn't a huge fan of the overall design for the game though. Very grindy gameplay, and not many combos. The way I like to play TCGs didn't really feel supported, which is alright, just not the game for me.

It's Magic but your lands and enchantments disappear, and your creatures become these little grandma beads. To its credit the game tries to utilize mechanics that couldn't exist in a physical game and tries to run with these mechanics as far as it possibly can, but just because you can do something doesn't always mean that you should. Commonly someone will pull creatures out of their hand or deck with massive buffs attached and either player may have at best only a rough idea where those buffs came from and when. Adding a star just because it's a carbon copy of Magic, although I'd be hard pressed to figure out why someone would choose this over MTGA, aside from this game being on Steam or some equally fringe reason.

EDIT: The game is more fun for me now that I've decided on a archetype to stick exclusively by, as opposed to just playing this or that and fulfilling quest goals. Added a star.
