It's a really neat idle game. I don't play too many of these types of games, I think I only really got into Candy Box prior to this one. But I think I can safely say that if I ever feel the idle incremental game itch, I'm not gonna find better than Evolve. This game is extremely in depth, more than it has to be, and has enough going on such that its not only a fun clicker to let idle, but also has enough mechanics to allow for active play as well, even being as slow as it is. It's kind of like... the most complicated stim toy of a game. I love it.

I've gotten to the point of completing my first third tier reset, and now that I'm in another universe the game seems to have hit a major grindy segment where I'm just doing lots of resets for mastery. I might let it sit in my browser for a while, but now that my high of that huge reset accomplishment has worn off and the slow grind is setting in, I may set it down for now (although i do wanna try some of the challenge runs). But it will remain my goto clicker game for a very long time. I guess that would be my biggest complaint: I'm not sure what the end goal is really besides 100% completion, which is fine! Just not sure if that's something I'm into currently. I had my fun with it, but I gotta take a break.

Evolve has surpassed kittens game as my favorite idle game. In fact, I can't help but feel that evolve is a successor to kittens game. There are many shared mechanics and player arcs between the games- although of course both games have plenty that make them distinct and interesting from each other. It's just pretty impressive that I already like evolve better given that I got to the lategame of kittens game.

Anyway, I'm not going to write an in-depth review of evolve yet, i still have hundreds of hours to go before I'll feel that i've made any progress with this iceberg. (So far i've only done 7 MAD resets, in the context of the game that's not far at all- despite obviously having dedicated quite a bit of time to the game. I'm confident there's several prestige layers I'm not even aware of in this game)

I'm a big fan of the storage mechanics, the money resource, and the way you choose a new species with each run. That last one adds a great variety that's welcome in a genre where doing countless runs is so important. I absolutely adore how this game implements religion mechanics.
I will have so much to say about this game, i'm glad the time when I'll want to write a review won't come in any concecviablely close future

I only really play idle games like this when depressed. I quite like the incremental genre, but have trouble justifying the time investment when there's so many wonderful games to play generally. A lot of this calculus goes out the window when I'm in certain bad mental states. It's weird to be this positive on a game when I can directly correlate my progress in it with periods of feeling terrible.

Proves my theory that the mushrooms are all spying on us

Probably one of the most robust and comprehensive idle clickers out there, with something of a roguelike element to boot - but for me I start to lose interest when these games run out of unique goals to accomplish. Waiting too long for too little to happen.
