Beat the shit out of yourself simulator

I like Final Fantasy II, and I’m sure it’s because of the skill based system. The story is promising from such an old fossil of a game, but nothing compared to later entries. In the end it feels exactly like a step up from the Original, but not exactly a classic like the original. Souls of Rebirth is also a nice addition to FFII, expanding upon its universe, but in the end it just comes out like a bad hand in poker.

More or less deserves its reputation. The atmosphere is pretty interesting and dire for the era of the series but it didn't come anywhere close to saving the game, it felt like a big slog from start to finish.

As of now, only having played the first 2 FF games I can't put an experienced opinion on this series. But I will agree that this game is extremely heavy on the grinding aspect, but I found that taking my time while wandering around did help making those grind-heavy moments less annoying.
The only real complaint that there are some stats that feel useless or trivial unless someone looks them up themselves (Spirit, Intelligence, Stamina)
But in terms of story this is a massive upgrade from the first Final Fantasy, where in the first one you're a good samaritan while getting the crystals. This one has much deeper characters, main villain, and setting that kept me going in this game, the gameplay certainly did not make me want to finish this game.

What if I shoot myself with a shotgun
