Gates of Zendocon is a side-scrolling shooter very similar to the original arcade shooter of this type, Scramble. Unlike Scramble, however, there are 51 game areas in total, but the player fights through a subset of them through branches, choosing the next area to visit. Some aliens will join you when shot (power-ups). Alien bases in each area allow you to repair your weapons and shield, but landing at the wrong time will cause your ship to explode and lose all power-ups.

Slow shoot 'em up that isn't really worth your time.

This game is harmless enough, but also quite a dull play, especially for a shooter. There are better Lynx games (some anyway) that will provide more of an action fix.

Playing Through My Evercade Collection Part 14: Atari Lynx Collection 2

Just meh. Im honestly having difficulty talking about this game, its not really all that special or interesting thanks to a slow speed, featureless levels and a lack of any real flair to any of the shooting. Sure its fun to see things blow up around you but generally there has to be a point or build up to something right? This just feels like its shmupping for shmupping's sake and thats a bit dull.

Another of the graphically very impressive games, using the sprite scaling tech that the Atari Lynx was so good at. It's not a bad game, it's just not exciting or interesting in any way. You fly sideways, and shoot the tons of enemies that are coming towards you (mostly not attacking you), go through a gate and do it all again on another world. I usually ended up ending runs not from dying, but just turning off the game because it seemed to go on forever. Great tech demo for the system though, just wish it felt like it had any sense of progression or purpose to it.
