It's an alright version, but you should look into the switch version or look for an arcade near you with the game and nesica cards for sale.

i played the actual version of this game in an arcade in denver colorado and thought "wow, what a banger idea, i wanna play this at home" and proceeded to play the objectively worst version of the game. the undertale tracks are cool but other than that the majority of the tracklist just doesnt appeal to me. something like this also is just really hard to make custom tracks for, so i just dont think this game will ever truly click for me, unforch

i love groove coaster but this version sucks

It's bad, the game itself is amazing with fun gameplay and nice looking visual, but there's a lot of content locked behind paywalls with an incredible number of 103 DLCs. It also was abandoned by TAITO in favor of Groove Coaster Wai Wai Party! for the Switch, it also has a ton of DLCs but way more support from developer and publisher.

This is my absolute favorite rhythm game HOWEVER the Steam release is utter garbage and you should not play it. It was a mediocre launch and quickly became completely abandoned in favor of the Switch release, Wai Wai Party. Play the Switch release or even the Mobile release (Free) for a much better experience.

As far as music games go the gameplay is alright, better for a more casual audience. The music is your usual jpop fare with some novelty songs from contemporary anime and games tie-ins.

Personally I found the single line format to be a bit over simplistic and I wasn't interested enough in the concept or music available to really invest myself to get good at the harder stages. Every music game has its core base, I just can't count myself amongst them.

Feels very similar to what has come before just with a new visual twist which is par for the course these days with more recent music games. Seems to now be abandonware so maybe don't bother and check for a newer game if you're into the look of it.
