✔️ Played on Steam Deck, it works fine (04/01/2024). 'R2' button to advance text and touchscreen for starting menu.

Outbreak is a fun and interesting extra layer added to the story, although it feels rushed and more plain than the usual Fragments. Bus stop is cool, we always enjoy learning about the origins of the stories we love. And again, more uncomfortable fanservice always touching terrible subjects and using p*d0philia as comic relief which is completely unnecesary in my honest opinion.

they just be having a goofy time

It's finally here!!

Outbreak is pretty decent, Kamikashimashi-hen the followup sequel produced over a decade later is absolutely bonkers in most fun way possible. You are not prepared and I adored it.

Then there's also bus stop, with its minimalistic and Kamaitaichi no Yoru inspired visuals -- this one is an absolute must read for fans. It offers a condensed, yet still different take on the story and the art direction, sound, and stage writing come together to create something really unique feeling.

Another key aspect is the staff rooms/after parties, with the 2022 after party being a sort of retrospective and inside look into things such as Gou/Sotsu. It's really genuinely emotional to read and is essentially a heartfelt thanks to fans of the games.

There's also another fan service bonus episode, which I'll get back to later :)

Edit: lol

Hinamizawa Bus Stop
Very interesting to finally see the prototype that inspired what became one of the most iconic VN's of all time. It certainly wasn't stellar, I think the shorter nature of a stageplay didn't allow for the twists to hit right, and I'm sure that's probably a reason that Ryuukishi's entry of this to whatever theater company was rejected. But a lot of the key points were retained in Higurashi which I find really enlightening into exactly how Ryuukishi writes and what he goes about prioritizing when he's planning something. Definitely a worthwhile read if you're at all interested in that aspect.

Also it was pleasantly gay.

Outbreak
This adaptation of the anime-original arc glossed over a lot of the details of said anime, which was a bit disappointing to me. As a Higurashi's-political-subplot enjoyer, this scenario and its extremely serious implications on both Hinamizawa and Higurashi's world at large is fascinating to me, so I would have liked a bit more fleshing out of the scenario in general, not massive cuts. We'll see how the next arc which is a sequel plays out, though I think I've heard not to expect much.
