As far as video game adaptations of things go, I think this one not only captures the spirit of the manga but is also a very fun action game on its own.

You acquire your very own HoiHoi-san and can equip it with any weapons and outfits you desire, then you get to play as it and kill bugs. You're incentivized to clear each mission as quickly as possible, and without accidentally destroying household items. Getting those A ranks means you'll be meticulously routing each stage, paying attention to when each bug spawns. You'll also want to avoid destroying stuff because that means you lose money, and you need the cash flow to buy weapons and ammo. My go-to weapon combo was the Excalibur, whose slowness is completely negated when using the dash attack, and the Machine Gun, which is useful for anything that flies.

HoiHoi-san has a battery which can deplete, but I don't think I ever saw this happen. It's a very generous limit as long as you don't get hit a lot, which you won't because the bugs rarely attack you.

The only thing I would've liked to see was some more stages. There are 20 missions, but only like 6 different stages, with repeats changing what bugs are present. It works, but it just feels a little repetitive.

Unfortunately, there also appears to be a glitch where even after collecting all of the collectibles scattered throughout the stages, the game will never update your file to be 100%. Maybe you get a secret reward if you hack your save file to say 100%, but I'll probably never find out.

hoihoi-san is cute, and you can dual wield revolvers. it's inefficient, expensive, and prone to damaging household goods... but your hoihoi-san can dual wield revolvers
