In this unique vertically-scrolling shooter you take the role of a mysterious girl named Karous, who commands a tiny fighter ship and attempts to destroy an evil armada bent on world domination. The game plays as your average vertical-scrolling shooter, in which you must clear several stages by destroying all incoming enemies and surviving their onslaught. A unique addition to Karous, is that you don't collect weapons by power-ups, but instead upgrade each of your basic weapons (gun, sword and shield) depending on their use thanks to a basic experience module, with increased power and features at later levels (multiple shots, bullet reflection, etc.) The game uses cel-shaded polygonal graphics with a distinct black and white look.

Solid gold presentation, odd gameplay choices.

Very interesting when it comes to the presentation, kind of okay when it comes to sticking RPG mechanics on top of a shoot-em-up formula

Fun shmup. There's like a shield you can use by standing in place that sort of breaks the game since you can just stand in place for a while and get through most sections of the game through that. The OST is some D'n'B that goes HARD so that's cool. The english translation is really funny bad. I don't really know enough about shmups to conclusively say if this was a banger, but I thought it was neat.

A homage to the filme "Carros" of the same year in the case you didn't get that.

banger presentation just really fucking boring goddamn. this certainly is a shmup alright. if this was just a shitty flash game on a japanese website in 2006 then i could probably forgive all this games shortcomings, but its not so therefore I won't.
