i thought when i started this it would be a regular ol hidden object game cause of steam's sometimes wack categories

turns out, as the title implies, it's a maze game with collectibles sprinkled throughout

honestly i think it's good but i maybe just wasn't in the mood for it cause it never really clicked

at least it was short ish!

A combination of a maze game and a hidden objects game.
Pierre the Maze Detective has you chasing your nemesis through highly detailed and animated, hand-drawn setpieces to catch your nemesis.

Along the way, you can find tons of adorable interactables and collectibles.

This game is basically Where's Waldo by way of Pajama Sam.

It exudes charm and exemplifies simple fun.

+ Charming art and cozy vibe
+ Well suited for young audience

- Lack of meaningful gameplay limits appeal to more experienced players
- Mazes never really force choices, too simple
- Collectibles force you to painstakingly check every deadend

This is definitely way more like classic old PC edutainment games of not a lot of gameplay but charming. The main draw of this game is its artstyle which pretty much nails the drawn hidden object book style. The music is pretty neat too.

I wouldn't say this is a game of mazes. It's an exploration game with super strict pathing. If you don't attempt to 100% the collectibles, I don't even think this is really a 'game' in the traditional sense. Outside of some crummy cultural depictions, I liked the art and the whimsy of the world. It makes for a few peaceful sits.
