It's like a hybrid of Wonder Boy and Ghosts 'n Goblins in terms of looks and gameplay. Decent all around, but nothing in particular stands out either.

It's almost like a cute version of Ghouls n Ghosts...well...if the main character sprite wasn't so ugly it would be.

It's a short, relatively easy platforming/shooter hybrid and one that you could comfortably finish in like 15 minutes after a couple playthroughs. It does have a few BS moments when learning how to route the vertically oriented stages, but much like a shm'up, it's really nice being overpowered and just tearing through bosses and enemies once you get the game down pat.

Also- I'm kind of bummed the Famicom port got scrapped. It's one piece of lost media I'd really, really like to see resurface along with the scrapped Battle Mania 3.

Another great entry in the “what if daimakaimura was good?” canon

Contrary to what anyone tells you, Strider (Sega Genesis, Capcom 1993) is NOT the best game you can beat in ten minutes. It is, in fact, Legend of Hero Tonma (NEC Turbografx-16, Irem 1993).
