Legend of Success Joe puts players in the role of Joe, a young boxer aspiring to make it up the ranks of the boxing world. But all is not well in Joe's world, and between boxing matches he may have to contend with street thugs out for his blood. The game is viewed from a side 2D view, and Joe can move up and down within the backgrounds as well as forwards and backwards. Fighting consists of using the four basic boxing punches, the straight, the hook, the body blow, and the uppercut, to take opponents down. During boxing matches each boxer has three health bars on screen, with the second smaller than the first and the third smaller than the second. When a boxer's health bar is drained he gets knocked down, but can get back up. When the third health bar is drained that boxer is knocked out and loses the match.

Ah yes, special old Dampe training, go enter professional boxing matches all beaten up with blood all over your face from having brawled some months or days ago (???). Maybe that's why Joe is so inmune to pain he can survive José Mendoza in this timeline

Giving this 1 and a half star because the game looks good and I like how they try to fit the story into one small game. I really like a lot of the small things they added that really was cool to see as a viewer of the anime.

Sadly past looking nice this was one of the worst games to playthrough. I couldn't imagine how many coins this would have costed to play through because my lord it is such an unfair game. The damage output I really have no idea how it works sometimes you will do like a inch of damage and sometimes you will do a half bar of damage. If you lose on the final fight there is NO continuing you are sent to the start which once again is insane. Dodging , blocking and punching are just not fun and never once did it feel fun to me I was just depressed playing this game LOL.

Hopefully the other joe games are better because this was not it.
