A very frustrating experience a lot of the time. Horror games often have a major problem: if they're too difficult or poor directed, the fear quickly turns to annoyance as the player beats their head against a wall. And that's definitely a vibe I felt here, as really obfuscated puzzle and level design lead to a lot of pointless deaths and spending about half the time just not having fun.
At the same time, there's real heart at the center of this story that I didn't expect. There's a specific story beat that doesn't happen enough in horror and its "ghost reunites with a friend who's now really old." Its just an excellent emotional gimmick that doesn't get enough play and I was stunned to realize how much I missed that kind of simple warmth in these kind of ghost stories. Its a really pleasant reward for surviving the game's quirks and flaws.
