EA's 2010 NBA Jam remake was amazing, but this 2012 NFL Blitz remake pales in comparison.

After-the-play late hits have been completely removed, thanks to the NFL. It plays similar to the older NFL Blitz games, but not as fast as the arcade, PS1 or N64 counterparts. It's somewhere along the lines of NFL Blitz 20-02 and 20-03 on the PS2, Xbox and Gamecube.

The big problem with NFL Blitz 2012 is that most modes were online only, and with the servers long shutdown, it almost has nothing to offer.

Blitz Battles was the online ranked mode. Elite League was a card-collecting mode (pretty much the precursor to Ultimate Team) where you earned cards and boosters to create an Ultimate Team. And Online Co-op was the unranked online mode.

All of these modes (even unranked) rewarded you with Blitz Bucks, an in-game currency used to buy team customization items, cheats, cheerleader loading screens, and other items in the in-game shop. With the servers being long shutdown, the in-game shop is useless since Blitz Bucks can't be earned in offline modes at all.

Playing the offline Gauntlet mode does unlock teams, which are similar to the hidden character cheats from the classic Blitz games.

The focus towards online really ruined this game, especially seeing how NBA Jam 2010 was pretty much a perfect game/remake. You would be much better off playing any of the older NFL Blitz games. There's nothing to see or miss here.
