Picross S+

released on Feb 29, 2024

A port/remake of the 3DS's Picross e series using the engine of the Nintendo Switch's Picross S series. Notable changes include the translation of the puzzles from Picross e's Micross mode to the Picross S series' Clip Picross mode, as well as additional Picross and Color Picross puzzles unique to this release. The base game includes all 150 puzzles from the first Picross e release in both Picross and Mega Picross forms, while puzzles from the remaining Picross e games are available as individual DLC packs.

i wish nintendo put more effort into this series because when they're firing on all cylinders, they're great

The picross s series, now giving us the picross e games on 3ds repackaged for switch, is about as complex as an actual book of nonograms. They're not bad at all, I buy them and enjoy them, but there's like 20 of these on switch and none are as good as mario's super picross on the snes because the presentation is so bland. Still, it's picross, it's enjoyable, and I like that picross e has been preserved now.

I just hit the "10 hours or more" mark for this on Switch for a $5 package of 300+ Picross puzzles (that are called Picross...I ain't buying no "Nonograms" crap!) and as is typical with Jupiter, this is a functional, highly polished puzzle pack with a clean UX. I have done about 110 of the basic puzzles and 15 or so of the Megas (which use the same pictures as the 150 basic puzzles I'm pretty sure but twist the rule sets slightly).

My only real criticism is that once you hit 15x15, the difficulty doesn't progress very much so I have started to get a bit bored. But this isn't much of a complaint because again, 300 puzzles! Clean user experience! 10 hours in so far! $5!!!

I'll probably either get a recent Switch release next or play one of the Picross 3D games rather than finish everything in this 3DS repack. But if you want a cost-effective way to check out a Jupiter Picross game, yeah! Get this thing.

Man, Nintendo keeps putting out mid and stuff I already played, I really don't want to get back to that game I really don't like and complete it out of necessity. I might need to buy a Steam Deck or dig out that Retroid Pocket in my dresser, oh woe is me...help...won't someone please help...

Trumpets sound and clouds in the sky begin parting as heavenly light shines down upon me, Jupiter Corporation descends downward offering something in hand

"Here child, 2,700 Picross puzzles across nine games, only 4.99 each plus applicable taxes..."

Bless you o' green sailor senshi of thunder and courage, I am forever in your debt.
