After solving a multitude of curious conundrums, renowned archeologist Professor Layton receives a rather peculiar letter. The sender of this letter is none other than his assistant Luke...but from 10 years in the future! "Future Luke" has found himself in quite a predicament. The London he knows and loves has been thrown into absolute chaos. Initially thinking that Luke may have simply been pulling his leg with a harmless jest, the professor cannot help but recall the terrible events that occurred the previous week... The start of which was an unveiling ceremony of mankind's first time machine, attended by many prominent figures from throughout the nation. During a demonstration, the time machine went out of control and engulfed the audience in a terrible explosion. Several of the attendees mysteriously vanished into thin air, including Prime Minister Bill Hawks. Unable to shake the feeling that the time machine's explosion may somehow be connected, Professor Layton and Luke set off to the location mentioned in the letter, a clock shop on Midland Road in Baldwin, embarking on what might be the biggest mystery they have ever encountered.

Gameplay is the same as the first two Layton games, pretty simple moving around and speaking to people like a point and click adventure game but filled with brain teaser type puzzles. The story in this one is absolutely elevated though, the first two games had really fun mysteries but this game ramps that up to 11. It also throws in a shockingly emotional personal element as well, I felt like for the first time in the series we got to really know Layton as a character as well as his past. The whole cast has great moments as well it was nice to see them all again. The cutscenes are beautiful in this HD port so I’m very glad I went with this version for that alone, I really hope the other games get this sort of treatment eventually.

Flora was done so dirty in this game. It was kind of noticeable in Diabolical Box but here it's clear as day, especially when Layton is talking to her. He feels very out of character in those moments it's weird BUT other than that this game is peak. A true gentleman cries over the ending

what the fuck are you talking about, none of this makes any sense

i dont know if im just tiring of the format or whatever but it feels like 80% of the puzzles in this are "heres 600 combinations to look through manually, pick the correct one" at which point its less of a puzzle game and more of a fuck me in the ass game

DON JODIENDA Y EL FUTURO JODIDO

OH NOW THIS FUCKS. MADE ME CRY MANY TIMES. LOVE THIS FUCKING GAME.

This game was already perfect before the remaster.

I remember absolutely bawling at the end as a kid.
