Rift (previously known as Rift: Planes of Telara) is a fantasy free-to-play massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) developed by Trion Worlds. Rift takes place within the fantasy world of Telara. The game was released in March 2011. Two competing factions composed of a selection of races and classes battle each other; as well as the enemies who emerge from dynamic rifts.

I think I began this game when it was already on its death bed, and it wasn't that great. I can recognize that it used to be, though.
Rift is, to date, the only MMO to ever come close to pulling me away from WoW for an extended period of time. It did not stand the test of time, but at launch Rift was so far ahead of the competition it barely knew it had any.
I cherish the year I spent playing this game, and resent the state the game is currently in. Rift deserved better.

Team Fortress 2 really got me to play some weak games. Made me want to play WoW instead. The random events as you walk around were pretty cool though.
