The thread OP alone makes this a notable release.
Evocative of 90s E1 replacements in all the right ways: primarily techbase focused (flashing lights included), an Industrial/Grunge set of midis (though I think the original soundtrack fits far better), attempting to push boundries with it's level design and break the currently non-existent rules, a compendium of lore only 10 people will read. You could argue theres some bad - lack of texture alignment , secrets inside of secrets, the simplistic custom textures, ambigious progression (very reministent of Eternal Doom), etc. But I'd argue thats part of the charm in trying to recreate a 90s wad.

Theres an abundance of cleverly utilized vanilla mapping tricks going on here, yet none are more apparent or cooler than how E1M8 functions. Arsenik has created (to my knowledge at least) a totally unique experience, which hinges upon a very rarely considered functionality for complevels 1&2. I also have to give props on a not-so-obvious achievment of this map, it is not easy to make large open areas look good in Vanilla doom.

The obvious highlights are E1M7&8, these two ooze creativity. That being said the whole wad is great, and feels like a modern take on what makes Doom's early mapping scene so interesting.
