This is probably one of the most 'meh' games I've ever played. There was nothing atrocious about it, but it was nothing special. I should've known something was off when I took damage from the first boss from an attack that didn't even come into contact with my player sprite.

I feel like it's important to note this is my first 'zelda-like' ever INCLUDING actual Zelda games. So my points may be more reflective of the genre and not of the game itself but god, the hub map was so big. And for what? All the houses are so spread apart yet not a single screen/area was particularly memorable. I could've found the boss in the first dungeon without the map you're practically given from the jump, but I spent like ten minutes trying to find the mayor's house in town. The fact that I was devastated there was no map for the 'small village' you encounter after defeating the first dungeon should tell you all you need to know.

By the time I had gotten to the second dungeon, the forest one, that's when the 'meh' really started to set in. And by the way, you traverse through this huge, winding forest maze area before you even reach the dungeon, which also bothered me considering how much time I had just spent looking for the mayor. And then the dungeon itself was just... meh. Like, I felt 'wow I just spent all that time looking for this place and it's kinda just... fine.' That's where I ended up turning in, by the way. And like with other games I played, it's not even that this is super hard or annoying or frustrating, it just... didn't feel worth the time to me.

The longer this game went on, the less enamored with it I was. It started off so charming, but the level design started wearing on me pretty quickly.

The game consists of a hub town, a completely empty overworld, and five dungeons. The dungeons are mazes full of monsters and traps, each capped off with a boss.

By the third dungeon, I was getting tired of the level design, which frequently has you flipping numerous switches to unlock doors in other rooms or off screen, with no clear indication what is happening where.

The final dungeon has multiple switches in multiple rooms needing to be flipped in order to open doors, leading to a LOT of backtracking and zigzagging across the map, trying to figure out what was next.

This was clearly a fun project for a few people to have fun playing around in, and I certainly can't fault them this. It was only a dollar, after all, and I willingly put the 3 hours into it.

you know, i gave lenna's inception and minit a hard time, but i'd still play them over this if i were looking for a pc zeldalike that was actually interesting

i hope the devs learned a lot about development from this, but i can't recommend this game.
