Smarty is an interactive storybook designed for girls aged 7-12. However, like designer Theresa Duncan's earlier game, Chop Suey, it can be enjoyed by almost anyone. It follows a little girl named Mimi, who is the smartest kid on her block. There are many different activities to play. You can also interact with many of the game's background items, which provide funny animations or fantastical scenes.

this and a blunt but no seriously this and a blunt

rlly lovely game :-))
in love w theresa duncan’s vision and idea of a middle america, a place innocent but not and a place that’s somehow both mundane and extravagant. I think she hoped for a better world for future generations :-) I think that’s sweet :3

highly recommend looking at her blog @ https://theresalduncan.typepad.com/witostaircase/
spent a few hours on there last night and there’s some rlly great musings and photo curation from her if u even slightly gaf about fashion/feminism/art/celebrity/conspiracy etc etc

Would agree with GoufyGoggs that this is the most "kid game" of the Theresa Duncan trilogy, as it lacks the thematic strengths and ruminations that Chop Suey and Zero Zero have, but this still has the same whimsical charm and nostalgic exploration of childhood as the others and its still a damn fine game for kids. Mimi Smartypants hanging out around town with her two cool lesbian aunts is just a fun time. Also Our Lady of Impossible Sorrow is one of the best mock names for a Catholic church I’ve heard. Definitely recommend the whole trilogy now that I've finally played through them all, they're just so unique and crafted with love and care.

super chop suey essentially. sacrifices some of the dreamier and more memorable quirks of that game, not too much though, for a more visually rich experiece with a greater amount of "content". not a bad thing though, as it makes smarty feel more like the memories that come to you after looking at photographs of a childhood family visit, rather than just the memory of that visit itself. you remember that there were other people in that restaurant you ate at, or other kids in a school play you found yourself in, or your aunt's neighbors. less intimate in a dramatic sense in how it reveals the details of people compared to cs (at least as far as ive found), but it brings out the fun of exploring a larger community. you dont have a friend you are psychically like, "one mind" with in this either, but being the lone explorer feels a little truer to my experiences personally. funny little games within it too

maybe i like this more than chop suey? im not sure myself but the day glo 90s girl dream does come thru most clearly in this one. still wish the sound didnt lag so bad on rhizome :(
