Sonic Time Twisted

released on Apr 18, 2017

Sonic Time Twisted is an open-source Classic Sonic style fan-made game, headed by Overbound. The game tries to improve upon the best features from Sonic the Hedgehog CD and the other Genesis/Mega Drive games. These features including time travel, elemental shields, and 3D special stages. The player controls Sonic and co. and they play like they do in the Genesis titles. Like in Sonic the Hedgehog CD, the player must use time poles (now adjusted to be instant) to travel through two different time zones, Past and Future. In the Past, Sonic must find the Special Stages and collect the Time Stones, while in the Future, Sonic must also find the Special Stages, however, these have the Chaos Emeralds. Beat all 14 Special Stages in each time zone (7 each) and the player will achieve the True Ending. Besides that, the player must traverse through 8 zones, most with 2 acts each, reach the Goal Post at the end, as well as encounter a boss at the end of the stage be it Metal Sonic or one of many loyal Super Badniks.

i love when robotnick Fucking DIES that shits banger

Much like 16-bit triple trouble (or I guess the other way around since this released first), this isn't really a sonic CD fangame, it's a 3&K fangame with CD elements.

The level design is unfortunately quite weak, with a lot of dead air and straight lines with nothing going on.

What this game really excels in is its looks and especially its music, I love all the level themes and their respective tracks, and seeing them in the past and future is always incredibly fun!

I also quite enjoy the special stages in this one, they're very fun! But like others mentioned, 14 is quite a lot.

Still, this is a very good fangame, I'd recommend others play it!

i played this on xbox one cuz of that one guy that somehow got it on xbox one
i got stuck on the final boss

Cool concept, fun gameplay, having 14 special stages is a bit much

I like this game a lot! It's like a hybrid of Sonic 3 and Sonic CD. I was never a particularly big fan of the latter but I feel most of my issues with it were resolved here. Levels are fast and fairly well thought out, the time gates are pretty easy to make use of and I enjoy the different battles you have with Metal Sonic. Speaking of I like racing him in the games bonus levels however the controls could have been made more responsive in these segments. Art wise the game is very well polished. Not quite to the same level as Sonic Mania, but good enough to feel like the step between it and 3. I'd say check it out if your a fan of the games. This is personally my first real dive into a Sonic fan game but if this is any indicator then I might need to try out more.

Bloated and overstuffed. Really neat conceptually but weirdly edgy in a way I find unfitting and lacking selfawareness. This really did not need BOTH time stones and chaos emeralds, who wants to spend like half of their time in special stages when the game isn't that long in the first place?
