Star Wars: Rebel Assault

released on Nov 01, 1993

It is a period of civil war. Rebel starships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire; which, under the command of Darth Vader, rules the galaxy with an iron fist. The Empire, however, is far from defeated, and many young pilots have joined the Rebels in the hopes of restoring freedom to the galaxy. Rebel Assault was one of the first CD-ROM games and the first Star Wars game with the full original motion video. It's a side story of a young pilot in the rebel army. He came from Tatooine but he is just a regular pilot. The game takes you to some key battles, like taking down a star destroyer, raiding an Imperial base or destroying the Death Star

While archaic, I really enjoyed this game. There are parts in it that plain suck, but the overall experience felt like taking a time machine to a simpler time with a better Star Wars.

A really bare-bones FMV game that doesn't even control well. You could technically say it captures the Star Wars aesthetic, but it only really accomplishes that by copying wholesale from Episode 4's storyline. The game's greatest crime is Hoth level that doesn't actually have roping up AT-ATs; rather, you shoot them a bunch until they fall over, which is so thematically disturbing that I can't even type anymore.

Clássico. Nostálgico demais... uma pena os controles terem envelhecido tão mal...

Played on Steam, Which I believe used the DOS version

This game is straight up unplayable. Possibly the worst controlling game I've ever played.

I tried to play this game on a joystick then a mouse, and both it was just completely unplayable on. You cannot control where you're going half the time, the game is like constantly fighting you for control.

I tweaked some settings that were recommended on forums, but I cannot get this thing to even be playable. I'm sure if it actually give you controls, it'd be fun, but this just isn't playable. Maybe the 3DO version is, but I don't care.

I got past 3 levels, and the fourth one is just not possible with this aiming system. The lock on hardly even works. Don't waste your time here.

"At Least There's Better Star Wars Games Out There?"

This game seems to have aged poorly. It's very basic and barebones, and plays like a 25+ year old game would expect to play. It requires a joystick controller, which I do not own, and the mouse controls are pretty poor. I wish there was the ability to use a normal gamepad properly, but the functionality is also very poor. After less than ten minutes, I gave up on playing this title. Gameplay was simplistic and revolved around repeating an action for about 10 minutes, then moving onto the next level. It just didn't have anything that enticed me, and had pretty bad performance (15 fps?! Why would I want that in 2019?!). I would Not Recommend this game at all.

Final Verdict: 1/10 (Terrible)
