You get to control giant space bugs during the campaign (well, and also during the game) so W. The story was fine I guess

I was waiting for it very badly, and my expectations were satisfied!

A valid sequel with some new ideas, more character-based game mechanics, and a campaign that feels more like the Odyssey than it does its predecessor. Kerrigan's motivations are comprehensible, but I never grew as attached to her as I did Jim Raynor. That said, I loved the zerg mutation mechanics!

This is the revengeance arc we all needed!

Absolutely had a blast playing through this, evolving my units, and anticipating what crazy new unlocks I would get next. There's a lot of sense of progression for an RTS here, and the characters are all interesting to talk to. I knew the story was going to be very one-directional, but it really is about the journey in this instance.

Worth a playthrough if you have any interest in RTS. It's a very smooth transition from learning the ropes in the beginning to managing multiple armies near the end. :p

This was a hard cheevos playthrough and I kinda burnt out at the end. My opinion on the Heart of the Swarm campaign hasn't changed much.

Through this hard mode playthrough, in which most of time I was just playing and not worrying about cheevos, I got to see a lot of the cool quirks on a lot of Zerg units and their alterations. The campaign does a lot to restrain the player though with a segmented campaign progression and a few levels where the player is given specific units unrelated to their playstyle. The campaign feels rushed too, unfortunately, and lacks the scenario variety that Wings of Liberty had.
