Tetris 64 is a puzzle game for the Nintendo 64. It was released only in Japan in 1998 despite the whole game being in English. It is the only Nintendo 64 game that can make use of the Nintendo 64's bio-sensor which was included with the game.

of all versions of tetris this is definitely a tetris game.

i guess the main gimmick here is the bio-sensor which of course i didn't have but it's hard to believe you can make a BAD tetris game nonetheless.

smooth downward scrolling as opposed to the tile-based downward scrolling will mess up your t-spins and tuck-aways because the game logic behind where the piece actually is in a vertical space becomes random and arbitrary.
the time and speed in which a piece is placed and the next one appearing is inconsistent and will lead to many cases where a piece will just move one space to the left or right as the next piece begins to drop. some times the next piece will appear instantly, other times it could take upwards of two seconds. the horizontal acceleration is also inconsistent and janky.

the jpeg backgrounds are also worse than what you would see from SEGA Tetris back in 1989.

you can sort of just summarize that this game in general suffers from inconsistent code relating to game speed and collision. this was a product that was shit out with minimal development time to sell a peripheral. perhaps maybe the game played smoother with the peripheral it was made around but on an emulator with standard buttons it was miserable.
