Long ago, during the first age, an evil spell to bridge our world and the one of darkness was stopped before it could be used. The spell could not be destroyed, so instead, it was broken into six separate parts and scattered about the world. As time passed, all forgot what these marks were for, and mankind dismissed the ancient warnings about these words of power. Then after a millennia, to their dark joy, the spells were rediscovered... As the powerful warrior Rau, you embark on a quests to rid the land of the barbarians and thieves that have come to power in this lawless realm, one that will eventually have him battling to once again stop the spell. Using a unique control system, Rau can take on multiple enemies at once, even when surrounded, and can also take out enemies with a bow, sneak up and kill with silent stealth moves, and use his magical bird Kuzo to scout the land.

Nice art direction, but everything else is middling to bad. The movement has this weird stiff and jittery feeling to it. The player character runs like he’s got pudding in his shoes and every step makes the camera kinda just jut forward a bit. The combat is marred by an uncooperative camera and a serious lack of impact on hits. It feels more like you’re whacking enemies with a pillow than slashing them with a sword. I have an appreciation for 6th gen jank, but in my short time with The Mark of Kri I couldn’t find anything underneath the jank to make it worth playing.

This is one of the games with the most unique combat for sure, lots of mechanics that i haven't seen in any other game.
All in all, pretty good game for the time.
Polynesian culture is underused in games too.

Une petite perle méconnue de la console, qui se distingue par une ambiance et un système de combat et d'infiltration très originaux. Dommage que le dernier niveau soit aussi fun sur le papier que relou à jouer mais c'est vraiment un jeu à redécouvrir.

I tell people this is like if Disney made an M rated game. It's great. Controls are a little awkward, but inventive.

The only game I've ever really considered speedrunning. I love this damn thing, warts and all. Everything about how the combat works feels like the game that Arkham Asylum simplified to make itself popular.

Does nothing to warrant playing in 202X
