Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a sequel to the critically acclaimed tactical RPG Valkyria Chronicles on the PS3, which was released exclusively on the PSP (PlayStation Portable) system. The game takes place two years after the conclusion of the original game and takes you back to the epic adventure set in 1930’s fictitious Europe. In this sequel, you play as a group of young Gallian Military Academy cadets who find themselves plunged into a bitter civil war when the newly formed Gallian Revolutionary Army stages a coup. As the drama and battle unfold, you will experience stories of friendship, love and growing pains during a time of war and revolution. The 'CANVAS' engine originally developed by SEGA Game Studios Japan for Valkyria Chronicles has been fully redesigned for the PSP system. This incredibly distinctive engine will power over 20 new distinct and visually stunning environments where you will have over 200 different missions to explore. For the first time ad-hoc Versus and Co-op multiplayer gameplay will now be available. The 'BLiTZ' battle system has also been re-designed to offer players the freedom to strategically move around the environment and attack enemies using real-time controls, something never before seen in the tactical role-playing game genre. This game adds some new unit classes and the ability to upgrade or change classes. It also changes the battle system to include multiple map areas that are unlocked as you take over enemy bases revealing more of the battlefield and allowing you to call units into that area.

How did this series survive to get us to the excellent number 4? 1 was a breath of fresh air when it came out on the PS3 and remains one of my favorite games to this day, but 2 should have absolutely killed the franchise. Uninteresting characters and really horrible map design (due to hardware limitations) that leads to really uninteresting gameplay. If you thought the scout rush was overpowered in 1 and 4, you've seen nothing. There is no reason to use anything other than a scout or shock trooper unless the game mandates you destroy a tank.

I remember thinking this game sucked back when it came out, but I decided to give it another chance because seriously. How bad could it be? Did you even PLAY 4? That shit rocks! ...Nope, I was right. Avoid it.

VC is still a great SRPG but there's sooooo so much VN stuff in here and the writing just isn't doing anything for me. Seven hours and I haven't seen a new environment yet, think I'm gonna have to hit the eject lever on this one unfortunately.

Absolutely fun, with cool mechanics and fun characters; the artstyle is very nice and the story seems to go to some interesting and dark places.
I Played it and never got to finish it because my kid mind could not understand how to beat that one mission with a lot of tanks without repeatedly getting killed.
Who knows, maybe I'll try it later in life.

All Mission Completed with an A Rank, All Weapon and Tank items created, All Medals obtained.

Extremely lazy sequel, boring beyond belief...
