First half is bad. Second half is generic af

This is an odd game for sure. On one hand, the shooting feels pretty damn solid and the guns... Some are pretty boring, but there are some downright satisfying guns in this game. The damage you do to enemies as well with almost every weapon makes even the more boring ones super satisfying.

My biggest issues come in with platforming, difficulty, and story. This game hit last few level Chaser platforming within the first hour. You are going to be wondering a lot if you're doing what you should. Difficulty is more at the start, some of the early enemies, gorillas with a grenade launcher for example, have no maximum range. They will hit you across the map once they see you once. Finally, the story. Maybe if you read the book you'll get it more, but this story is really hilarious in ways I don't think they intended.

Strange but satisfying game overall. It has a bit of jank here and there but not too bad. Decent fast paced shooter with easy puzzles. Should have played on a harder difficulty - this is my only regret.

played this bc its by action forms, who did cryostasis which i loved, and also chasm the rift. cryo is kind of the outlier of their games bc this is a much faster paced and less narrative heavy fps than it (saying that tho the cheesy dr moreau thing it does i think shows a teeny bit of the ambition cryo would have in its storytelling). you can def tell it was converted from a failed duke nukem project in how it feels to play and the grotesque + goofy at once enemy design. occasionally it really shows.

its aight: the hitscan gets rough, explosions barely do splash damage and grenades/rockets require direct hits, first half of the game has a problem of the majority of enemies being mobs that run up to you and hit you, second half trades that for a problem of corridor shooter level design that while /technically/ more appropriate i like less than the open outdoor levels in the first half (gets cool setpieces out of it tho). also theres like 2 worthwhile weapons after a certain point. but idr have much worse to say here, its fine for what it is. i liked how you could locationally gib enemies. and also part of the reason i like the outdoor areas--even if they are a little too big and empty tbf--is for the hilly terrain, because you actually go slower up slopes and faster down them, which led to a lot of jumping n sliding to keep speed going, which i love doing. i cant think of that many games that have that specific kind of movement strangely enough; strangers wrath, a game i love alot, has that in 3rd person, and that's all i can remember. there HAS to be more than i know of, anyone else that has any in mind lmk
