A nearly perfect soulsborne game. I love the focus on more agressive combat. having a sidestep instead of a dodge roll while locked onto enemies took some getting used to but once it clicked, it really clicked. trick weapons are a blast, and guns are super satisfying to parry with. the level design is stellar, with lots of series highlights all around. the boss fights are for the most part fantastic, and the old hunters DLC has three of the best bosses in the series. the lore is the best in the series without question, and the aesthetic is only topped by elden ring. honestly, my only real complaint is that chalice dungeons suck HOT ASS. I am so glad they are optional. the only bad bosses in the entire game come from them (yharnam, bloodletting beast, etc) and they are just a chore to actually play through. thank god for false depth chalices because if i actually had to go through all of the pthumerian chalices to fight yharnam i think i would have lost it. a thankfully optional stain on what is otherwise a masterpiece. I cannot recommend this game enough, as long as you skip the chalice dungeons.
If i could give it 6 stars I would. Favourite game of all time. Closest piece of media to my heart and brought me to some of my most beloved interests. Also was my intro to FromSoftware games which are just the best pieces of entertainment right now. I beg you to buy a PlayStation and then this game. It is worth it. Trust me.
I struggled a lot with all the Dark Souls games, so I went to this one and this was the first FromSoft game I managed to finish and I absolutely loved it, the lovecraftian eldtrich horror is such an amazing idea to explore. This is probably my favorite FromSoft game right next to Sekiro. Worth a try, believe me.
I hate to think like the majority of players but this time, i can't think differently. I played it recently and it became one of my favorite game of all time. The mechanics take a time to learn but when you got them, the game is just pure pleasure until the end. And the story is good too but don't forget to read everything to understand what's going on in this crazy city.
If you are looking for a game with tough challenges and great combat, you must try Bloodborne. Bloodborne is another of Miyazaki's masterpieces, and this time you are not faced with the cycle of darkness and light, and you step into the world of dreams, or rather, nightmares. If you are looking for the experience of Bloodborne, like other games of this studio, you should also experience the DLC. The DLC of the game was one of the best DLCs I have ever experienced and it beautifully completes the unfinished stories of the main game in its own way. Finally, if you are looking for a trophy, this game is one of the easiest Souls titles to platinum
I've replayed it recently, got the dlc (i can't buy online so i bought the Goty edition, now i have two copies of this thing), and beat every single optional boss and area i missed in my original first blind playthrough.
It's ok, i don't dislike it anymore but i don't think it's great either.
My first playthrough was awful, i was having fun and then once i got to the shadow forest i hated everything, i was constantly disappointed by everything and was super bored. Now that i replayed it knowing what to expect i didn't have a bad time. It's just a very ok game.
With the exception of a few bosses i feel most of them are mediocre or bad, too many of them are too samey. None of the optional stuff i missed was that good either except for Logarius, that was one of the few cool fights in the game.
The dlc was a mixed bag, the hunter's nightmare was super fun, but it's bosses were just a bit above the average beast bosses in the game. More of the same, but EXTREME.
The research hall sucked ass, the first boss also sucked but at least the second one was pretty good.
Fishing Hamlet looked cool but the giant sharks were annoying. At least the final boss was fun.
I gave it a second chance because i wanted to love it like everyone else, now i think it's fine. Mission accomplished i guess?
I don't really feel like it's worth replaying, some weapons are kinda cool and i want to try them (i have to make a new playthrough for that because there's no respec for some reason so i'm locked out of like 90% of the fucking weapons and i didn't find any str weapons aside from the Kirk until the goddamn dlc) but i just don't give a damn about most of the bosses, they do nothing for me, and none of the areas are super fun either. I can count with my hands how many bosses i enjoyed.
And no, it' not because of a a skill issue, i beat most of them first try, and even those that were super hyped as hyper hard by the community like Maria or the Orphan went down fast (second and third try respectively). I don't believe difficulty makes a boss more or less fun by default, i really liked those two, i just felt like most bosses in the game are really fucking boring.
