Fuck this shit. Feels like I’m playing a trick question.

Don't fall for that narrative, they only use NES style controls because the Wii couldn't handle better graphics.

Decent, but there's better Bit.Trip games.

Probably the most difficult Bit.Trip game out of the original 6 taking into account its cross lasers mechanic and the fact that if you require a snappy controller to beat it in normal difficulty. The music is still the highlight here each stage is still 15 minutes long with boss fights.

Liked this one even less than Beat. The backgrounds obscure beats even more frequently, the 4-way field makes it hard to tell when you're supposed to hit what direction, and it can be hard to get a feel from the rhythm of the music how the targets are going to move (if the music even offers a hint like it occasionally felt like it did; maybe that was just in my head). I honestly wonder if the game was better back on the wii in a 4:3 aspect ratio, where the horizontal and vertical distances were more alike.

Intuitive and profound. Feels like struggling to learn a new language and then suddenly breaking out into song. CONTROL makes me tear up every time. I find this game so much more impactful and uplifting than the glut of "existential" indie games that rely on sentimentalized imagery because CORE doesn't condescend to you with wooby sloganizing (evewyting wiww be okay :3 ) and instead acts as a demonstration of how astonishing the basest and most reflexive functions of your brain are. A meditation and an awakening!
