First of all this game is a lie. This Bloons TD 3 so weird choice titling it as the first game. Secondly the game runs terribly on this version (the DSI release version) so it is such a strange choice to release this. Play the flash version of Bloons TD 3 instead of this.

Very poor port of Bloons TD 3, a free flash game.

I remember getting a rash on my lower lip because I would rub the top row teeth against my lip while playing this game. I did not get bullied at school because of this.

this went hard during history class

Back in the day, this was a thing just to pass the time. Well, the franchise didn't evolve from that.

Thought that it'd be a good idea to go for what is likely the most beloved flash game series out there, or at least one of them, even if it meant going and playing the first game and realising just how bad it is. The issues with this game are numerous but all kinda boil down the fact that this is a painfully generic tower defence game without anything much that makes it stand out beyond the premise of monkeys throwing darts at balloons being funny.

This issue of it being generic is then further exacerbated by the fact that there is absolutely no variety to the game, with one map and only 5 towers. While this would be unfortunate on its own, when combined with the fact that the ice tower is practically useless and the super monkey is an obvious trap for players to sink way too much of their gold into, you're really only left with 3 towers. This makes strategic variation or even the difficulty of figuring out what you're supposed to do to achieve victory be kinda pitiful. Further contributing to this problem is the fact that it all comes down to DPS with very, very little other things to keep tabs on, with the explosive resistant bloons being the only thing to worry about at all. Since this can be solved just by placing a bunch of basic towers down, it really doesn't change much other than requiring you to spam the basic, cheap tower a lot, so it doesn't really matter regardless.

In the end, while this series would go on to have some pretty great games that I've sunk countless hours into, this first entry is extremely simplistic and just, not good, there's just not enough here to make for an enjoyable experience. Even the track is as basic and bland as can be, even though I give it very slight props for at least being designed to be conducive to using any of the towers effectively, even if as previously mentioned, only 3 of them are really viable anyway. Any of you who wasted their time in class with this game, I'm sorry that you weren't able to find any of the better flash tower defence games.
