Dark Souls has NOTHING with the difficulty of this game.
While Castle of Dragon may not have pushed boundaries or offered groundbreaking mechanics, it delivered an enjoyable experience for fans of platformers at the time.
It has a lot of shenanigans especially with the EXP (that I just realized)
Also the soundtrack of this game is a banger.
