had a lot of fun with this really love the combat. pacifist is very fun. had this at a 4 before i played genocide, its so grindy and the writing is so edgy and theres barely any changes it just kinda felt like a waste of time when i finished it.

I honestly don’t know what I’m supposed to feel playing this game.
Deltatraveller advertises itself as a silly fangame centered around “What if Kris and Susie suddenly appeared in undertale?!” And, thinking that was a fun premise, I tried the game out. At some point through it, however, I began questioning what this game is trying to actually be.
Deltatraveller keeps attempting serious and honest story beats and character moments, and it REALLY clashes with the comedy aspect. It’s difficult to take the story seriously, and it’s difficult to just let yourself revel in the absurdity of the bits.

Fucking sucks giving this 2 stars. There’s obviously a lot of love that’s gone into this free fangame, but I just don’t really have that much fun with it.

(Based on Section 1, 2, and 3)

pretty good even if some characterizations don't fully make sense sometimes

Section 3:

It was okay…not a fan of the bosses but it’s fine. some interesting choices. Sections 1 and 2 are much better imo

I hate Sans fights

This is a new log just in regards to Section 3, but TLDR for Sections 1+2 I thought S1 was fun, and thoroughly loved Section 2 from what I remember.

I wasn't sure how I'd feel about S3 given its setting in Undefell, which isn't an AU I really ever cared for. But since the earlier sections had won me over so much I was willing to give it a chance. I think the devs did a really nice job making this section digestible for people like myself who weren't fully familiar with or super into the AU.

That said, I think Section 2 stands out a lot more in my mind by comparison with the attention to detail in its setting and probably my pre-existing attachment to MOTHER, getting to see the DR cast interact with that whole new world.

That isn't to knock S3 at all though. the writing is just as charming and on point as before. Not to spoil anything but it was cool to see how certain twists were handled, especially in this game's "Obliteration Route." I also loved a certain hilarious surprise towards the end of this section.

I'm fully looking forward to the next section and wish RynoGG and the rest of the team nothing but good luck!

How was the fall?

Section 1: In ruins- 8/10
Section 2: Oh Mother - 8/10
Section 3: Hells Forest - 8/10

I thought the Paula fight was impossible because I didn't know dual heal was a thing in the fight

(Review will be updated as future sections are released)
Deltatraveler is the first Undertale/Deltarune fan game that I got into. I was always interested in trying Undertale fan games, but none of them stood out to me except for Deltatraveler and TSUnderswap. So I tried out Deltatraveler and I was pleasantly surprised to find a really fun reimagining of the ruins from Undertale and a fun premise.

The main premise of the fan game is simple: What if Kris and Susie go to places that they shouldn’t be at? It’s based on the “Kris where the hell are we” meme that was popular last year. The meme had Kris and Susie edited into different games while Susie is in her silly-looking wide sprite. The game takes this meme and goes more in-depth with this idea. How would the story play out if Kris and Susie were inserted into random games? What would be different?

//Section 1 "In Ruins"//
The first section of this fan game is called “In Ruins” and primarily takes place in the Ruins from Undertale. My biggest worry before I started was that area would be a bit too similar to the ruins from Undertale. Deltatraveler's Ruins are completely unchanged from the original however the narrative that takes place is completely different. Susie adds a lot of great commentary on the area and ends up drastically changing how the story plays out compared to the original. I like how natural the story changes in the game are. The scenes with Toriel hits hard and the boss of the section was a great surprise.

The combat is pretty much just Deltarune’s combat system in the Undertale UI. Those 2 systems are already pretty much identical so the combination makes sense. Like in Deltarune and Undertale you have the option to either spare or fight enemies. There are 3 main routes in the game; Pacifist where you spare every monster you come across, neutral where you pick and choose what monsters you want to spare or kill, and Obliteration where you kill every monster in the area. I highly recommend doing either neutral or Pacifist first because like in Undertale Obliteration is a miserable experience that is not worth doing unless you want to be an asshole.

Whatever route you take the enemies will be the same and they are identical to how they worked in Undertale. Their attack patterns and ACTions are the same. The only real difference is Susie's S-actions which adds another way for you to spare enemies. I’m fine with the attacks being the same since it’s a fan game. The music however is a mixture of old tracks from Undertale and entirely new tracks. The battle theme, ruin’s theme during the obliterate route, and the boss theme are completely new. They’re really good. The new rendition of Enemy Approaching is a banger and the boss theme is fantastic. The music was great and I’m excited to hear new tracks in future sections.

//Hard Mode//
Hard mode is Section 1, but you play as Frisk instead of Kris. A lot of the dialogue of the area is changed to fit this change leading to humorous moments. The enemies are all changed to their more challenging counterparts. Not much else to say about this part of the game except that it's worth playing (especially for that ending.) Also, the remix of stronger monsters is incredible.

//Section 2 "Oh Mother"//
When I first saw the teaser at the end of section 1 that the next section would be based on Earthbound, I was so hyped. After finishing the section, it lived up to the hype.

Section 2 primarily takes place during the Happy Happy Village portion of Earthbound. The story follows familiar beats of the original area's plot with of course differences due to the Deltarune character's involvement. Seeing Kris, Susie and Noelle explore Earthbound's bizarre world was fun.

The combat is done in the Deltarune/Undertale combat which is neat. All the earthbound enemies have all new and unique bullet patterns. Each enemy also has its ways of sparing them.

The visuals of the Earthbound areas have been completely redone to fit the Deltarune art style and all of the sprites look great. The world, characters, and animations look great. The new music for this section is fantastic. The new battle theme, boss theme, and the credits' theme are excellent.

There is also an obliteration route for this section. Don’t do it. Unless you like being horrible don’t do it. The exclusive content isn’t worth it awful feeling in your gut when you reach the end. Just enjoy the adventure in the pacifist or neutral route.

Overall Deltatraveler is a great fan game that I highly recommend checking out. If you are an Undertale/Deltarune fan this is a must-play.

review on section 1,2 and 3:

Pretty good fangame! It's not fully finished yet so I'll give my full thoughts below about the rest of the sections below

chapter 3 hugely falls off, and the underfell!sans fight is borderline impossible for someone who doesnt have lightning-quick reflexes. the choices with kris's character are really unenjoyable and ooc, ralsei is funny but gets kind of boring quickly, but bnnuy is great .. oh and noelles sort of ooc in a way i struggle to get behind. however i really enjoyed the first two chapters despite these things! ive given up at the underfell!sans fight for now, but might pick it back up again in future. theres a lot of flaws but overall its an enjoyable experience!

played and wrote this during the time "SECTION 3" released,

Deltatraveler is a game with the premise that it's based off of a meme ranging in quality dating back to 2021, While this is fine it shortly becomes heavily outdated as they make more of the game, planning up to 8 "sections".

I mention this because this game is jampacked with content similar to it such as that Smurf Cat or Ralsei smoking a blunt, taking away from any sort of serious moment they try to go for, feeling like the devs were indecisive on if they wanted a more light-hearted game or a serious one. These decisions also get questionable when they also go back and say another UNDERTALE meme won't appear in the game for not being "funny and memorable" despite it more than likely being able to fit in with all of the other outdated content.

Section 1 sets the stage for how the entire game will basically go down each section by setting the formula for the game, Susie says the line from the meme and then you go through a 1:1 copy of the ruins. The ruins could've been made interesting through a multitude of ways such as UNDERTALE Yellow's ruins being an entirely different section of it, or possibly having the DELTARUNE battle system. but Deltatraveler settles for a weird clunky hybrid of UNDERTALE's and DELTARUNE's, by having base UNDERTALE health and trying to overcomplicate enemy bullet patterns to make up for the fact you have multiple party members rather than just going for something unique. Trying to dodge two Loox ends up as a nightmare compared to the source material where the bullet patterns actually synergize with one another and can be learnt or mastered.

The writing of the characters also tends to feel like cryptids trying to masquerade as the DELTARUNE/UNDERTALE characters off of 1-2 sentences they've said rather than actually feeling like the characters, just off one way or another. The game will also have frequent HEAVY swearing depending on what route you choose to play to where in the source material all you could really get to this point is "ass" being spoken.

The final part of section 1 has a pretty odd boss fight for Flowey with a more odd design where he gets taller and has a hunch back which I'm trying to say is not appealing at all. These types of fights introduce a problem that gets more prominent down the sections to where attacks will get overbearing to those with poor reflexes or near unavoidable, Fights like Jevil and Spamton NEO avoid this by being completely optional and not crucial to progress the story. but Deltatraveler makes a lot of them necessary to go through, The section ends with you getting a party of three and ending up in another door.

The intro of Section 2 dashes any other potential it could have by having the characters comment on how le quirky the earthbound art style is and then they just conveniently gain a magic power that changes the entire world into the UNDERTALE art style and battle menu. despite Flowey one section ago saying verbatim "No one's gonna know what you're doing if you fight like this, idiot.", The only reason this is the case I could find through investigation is that they "needed to introduce how noelle would work" despite that being pretty easy to understand considering it's just a healer/damage role that could also be integrated into the earthbound battle system. I would've much preferred it too as the bullet patterns have gotten significantly worse when enemies are paired up, once again trying to make up for the fact you have multiple party members by being 10x more overbearing rather than choosing whether to balance one thing or the other.

One thing I should mention is that there is also a genocide route like UNDERTALE, I compare it to UNDERTALE because it doesn't go for the subtlety DELTARUNE's weird route does by making you genuinely feel awful for going out of your way to find ways to manipulate the situation and Noelle. It goes for the UNDERTALE route of going "Uh oh! You did a bad! You're awful." over and over while doing nothing about it until the last minute of each section. There's no way susie or noelle would actually stay in kris's party if this was the source material. It would actually make someone think back on their morals if that was the case while adding the difficulty they're trying to go for.

The Obliteration Route is incredibly edgy to the point where in section 2 you earn the power to "draw blood" from the earthbound enemies where they just bleed out and stay in the overworld forever like baby's first creepypasta. As mentioned before the swearing just keeps increasing in this route too as the writers use it as a crutch for serious moments rather than toning down the wacky jokes that still play out in this route.

The boss of section 2 changes depending on what route you choose, and the Obliteration route one has actual fart music, You'll find a lot of the OST of deltatraveler ranges from just stolen from other games or shoddily made remixes, making the original tracks stand out especially in being pretty draining to listen to if you listen to them for far too long.

Back to the pacifist route, there isn't really much to say about the earthbound section on a pacifist route because it still kind of just plays like a clunky UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE hybrid with earthbound painted over it. The cast beats porky and moves onto another gray door.

Section 3 is where everything takes a nosedive into hell and back, The premise is the author's take on underfell, an edgy undertale au. This take is called "GG!Underfell" and If you thought Underfell was edgy well GG!Underfell took all of Underfell's edginess and put it all into sans, who is now a "twisted fucking cycle path", who somehow knows the main cast and wants to have their revenge for reasons that may never be explained.

The gameplay of Section 3 is just another 1:1 copy of UNDERTALE but it's Snowdin instead of the ruins, with small changes like some puzzles and some sections like a dark maze. The battles also try to be slightly different by having you un-edgy the monsters in your pacifist route but it's basically just adding extra steps to ACTing, even beating up monsters un-edgys them faster than ACTing so why you'd want to ACT in this section is beyond me.

In both routes the writing here is abysmal and should just be thrown back in the oven. At some point during section 3 Kris will rip out their soul, go out and TALK to the rest of the cast, have an INSANE design change and overall baffling decision of having The Eye™, This scene made me abandon any surrounding hope regarding this game for a MULTITUDE of reasons. Such as kris always being portrayed as a relatively quiet kid up until they got possessed by the SOUL in the source material (as of writing this), and the eye being so offputting for a character like kris ontop it feeling like trying to copy Susie's moment from DELTARUNE, feeling like anything was discarded for the author's choice to where Kris should've just been an entirely different character rather than the author retrofitting unnecessary details on a character with an established past thus far.

In the Obliteration Route, this moment also gets 10x worse as it also removes any stakes as it makes you feel less guilty for what you're doing by having the author try to run out of a corner they backed themselves into in the first place and also introducing a fake red buster that instakills you, The deceitful status could've been more meaningful if it was more than just this. having MULTIPLE things to look out for if you really want to continue killing everything in your sight rather than just one button you can dodge for the rest of your run.

In earlier versions like the one I played too, noelle is horrendously out of character in this route and even swears with the line of "Why are they FUCKING staring at me like that" when toby has established this character says things like "cheese and crackers".

The end of section 3 is by far the worst moment of Deltatraveler as if you're on Pacifist you have to deal with a GENOCIDE SANS FIGHT WITH 20 HP PER PARTY MEMBER (except susie), Forcing any player to learn these patterns or quit. This is NOT intuitive for any player whos playing casually and actively punishes anyone playing your game aiming for a true pacifist ending. Apparently a patch has been put out for this fight that nerfed it for pacifists but it feels far too late for the amount of people who were stuck on it.

That's basically it for my review because the rest of the game isn't out yet clearly but the direction it went makes me uncertain I even want to keep playing the way it's going, I'm aware this probably came out like gibberish and it is a fangame, but keep in mind you can still criticize them!!!

tl;dr they should've just made a deltarune themed board game collection because the uno minigame is the only thing worth playing in this right now

Fun fights but tone/humor/music aren't super strong.

(Logged as of Section 3)

Started playing a bunch of UNDERTALE fan games and what a fucking treat the whole way through! The fights were fun and challenging without feeling unfair and the humor made me laugh out loud several times! Really excited to see this one finished :D

Very easily my favorite undertale (and Deltarune) fan game. it’s so creative and fun I’m just really excited for section 3. And to this day ruder monsters is still great listen to it and stuff. Shit like the insane gore when doing genocide is so cool especially the hard mode route with MR WD WTF so much fun
Section 1: undertale - 8/10
Section 2: Earth bound - 8/10

Regular: 8/10
Genocide: 9/10
Hard mode: 8/10

YEAH BABY IT'S FINALLY ON BACKLOGGD THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THAT'S WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Legitimately such a banger game so far, it's better than any Undertale/Deltarune fangame has any right to be, and I can't wait to see more of it (though please take your time with this, Sarah, I don't want this game to end up being cancelled due to burnout, that would be tragic).

Also, it's unironically better than Earthbound.
