This game is good and the missions are funnier and innovative. I enjoyed this game

Lowkey wished this was the third season of Ash vs The Evil Dead

Decided to revisit this one since I won't be playing the new Evil Dead game so soon. Hadn't played it since I was a kid and it's even better now that I am familiarized with the movies and the show, I had no idea Ted Raimi was the voice actor for Sam.
Most groovalicious, I hope this game gets re-released someday.

I enjoyed the combat and the fun banter between Bruce 'Step on me' Campbell and Ted Raimi, unfortunately the gameplay started getting repetitive very fast, with the game making you do this escort-type mission more than 12 times throughout the game.
The game also feels very unfinished, it's only 6 hours long and felt like it was just getting started, then again if it kept going on for any longer I felt like the gameplay would have gotten more repetitive than it was.

The fact that this will probably be the best Evil Dead game will ever get so fucking sad.

While a pretty obvious and remarkably lesser God of War clone, Evil Dead: Regeneration is still a blast and exactly my style of game. I don't want to have to manage resources and search for ammo and worry about reloading. I want to hack and slash and blast my way through deadites without remorse or mercy for 8 hours. I want to feel like an absolute superhero. This game delivered on that. It added a combo system which was a nice change of pace. However, it felt redundant once you unlocked the spear gun. It felt like the fastest and most efficient way to kill enemies was to reel them in with the spear gun, blast with shotgun, then hit triangle for finishing move. I felt like I simply spammed this for the entire second half of the game until I finished it.

The other new, big element this game added was inclusion of a deadite sidekick to Ash. Most of the comedy was derived from this character. I couldn't help myself but chuckle every time Sam was accidentally killed in a cut scene in the most gruesome and gory ways. This also helped add to the story as Ash had to put aside his hatred for the undead and learn to get along with a deadite for a change.

However I felt the mechanic of using Sam was sort of a wasted opportunity. I wanted it to be a bit more like a Ratchet and Clank game where the two characters have distinct abilities and uses to solve puzzles and progress through the levels. What you do in this game is possess Sam with Ash to reach smaller areas that Ash normally wouldn't be able to get through. But when you play as Sam you are doing the same things as Ash. You are moving linearly through the level, and pushing square to shoot at deadites. It's basically the same thing but with a different character skin. It needed to be a bit more different and distinct.

Like the last game in the Evil Dead franchise you get numerous different attachments other than just a chainsaw for Ash's arm which is quite fun. There were some remedial puzzles to solve that required a specific weapon. And Same takes to his sidekick moniker quite literally as you often have to punt Sam into enemies or objects to progress.

All in all Evil Dead: Regeneration is an improvement over its predecessor in terms of gameplay, graphics, story and is just a more fun game. I will definitely remember this one more fondly even though it's not without its faults. The things that could have been improved on and felt like a swing in a miss are sort of forgivable when the rest of the experience was so much fun.

I really wanted to like this game as an Evil Dead fan. I was so close to beating it too, but the ass targeting controls prevented me from beating the final boss.

Aside from that, the characters in this were just annoying/unlikable. That's saying something when the two main heroes are played by Bruce Campbell and Ted Raimi. Everytime you get stuck on a section, it just loops the same dialogue between Sam and Ash. Sam says something annoying, Ash says shut up, rinse and repeat until it gets grating.

While the idea of Ash possessing Sam to get into smaller sections was pretty cool, the escort missions where you have to protect Sam aren't. I find escort missions exhausting and not a lot of fun, especially when you have to repeat them over and over again.

One thing I did enjoy in this game was the combat. Slicing up deadites felt pretty good (aside from the targeting which was required for some sections). I really loved the executions that they implemented, and if you don't want to do an execution, you can just bash them over and over again with the chainsaw. Which I found highly amusing.

But overall, the game was just meh to me. That really hurts as an Evil Dead fan. I do want to play the new Evil Dead game, but I can't afford it.

Devil May cry and evil dead mixed together? Now that's groovy 😎

A game that tried to clone God of War and failed and also failed to be funny. I enjoyed it only because I love the Evil Dead franchise, but Bruce Cambell can only do so much to a script with very bad writing. The game also features incredibly repetitive gameplay and after absorbing a seemingly never ending amount of spirits and escorting Sam it gets boring.
