Game somehow crashed during the ending while running this on native hardware. It's fun nothing really mind blowing or special though

It's like chess, but with war, and anime, and Chrom. And we all know chess is much better with Chrom. It's also nothing like chess.

A game so beloved that it saved the franchise internationally. The sheer number of characters with different visuals and personalities despite being on the 3DS and the first of its series to do so is impressive. The story is above average with some good villains, character depth, and moments that other titles lack at times. Its only real flaws are a weak final villain and quite a few story choices that are asked but don’t truly matter except the final one.

it's fun breaking the game no lie

Fire emblem but now your characters can kiss

Juegazo.
Un elenco de personajes divertido y encantador, una trama emocionante entre varias naciones ¡y épocas! y mecánicas novedosas para la saga que revitalizaron la franquicia y enamoró a miles de personas.
Gracias por todo, FE Awakening.

I played this as my second Fire Emblem game (after Fates) and enjoyed it, but it's not something that stood out to me that much. Some of the music is incredible though.

It's about what I expected except this time I actually like the kids more than the parents which is crazy. Awakening is better as a love letter anniversary game but disappointing as a SRPG. I appreciate what it did but not fun to play. The game, especially on higher difficulties, encourages you to grind more like a traditional RPG which goes against what makes Fire Emblem special. Emmeryn's whole ordeal didn't hit me like I expected which is unfortunate. She's not very impactful in the story sadly. Gangrel hard carries the story and truth be told, I enjoyed the DLC Future Past story more than the main story. Lucina and the kids are so wonderful and truly fulfill that close group of friends dynamic that I felt lacking with the parents. And the ending with Chrom watching Lucina is so bittersweet it made me smile. As for gameplay, while I do appreciate that the reclassing was limited and allowed for some customization, ultimately the game still boils down to pairing up and sweeping enemies. This game feels like a beta Fire Emblem Heroes book 1 where the stats are more important than the skills but watch out for some special skills occasionally that can really shock you. Overall, Awakening is a very mid Fire Emblem game for me.

A personal favourite of mine. Tight strategy. Gets a little repetitive.

I really plowed through this one, compared to other Fire Emblem games I've beaten, but I really enjoyed the hell out of this one. I went through on Hard, Hardcore mode (the permadeath one, I only remember it's the non-casual mode), and went through the usual malarkey of getting through FE with no one dying. The pair up system really adds A LOT to the game, but it really feels like they expect you to use it the way I sorta went with.

Like, I imagine if you're on casual mode or normal difficulty, there might be more incentive to pair up characters whose personalities you think fit best together, in a sort of Sims-esque way, but it just came down to damn practicality for me. Finding male-female pairs of big attacking guys to pair with fliers to get a combo of very mobile DPS-tanks took up a big majority of my micromanagement, but damn if it didn't pay off. Chrom & Cynthia, and Lon'qu & Cordelia were my pairs of MVP's in the late game. Just dodging every attack that came their way with all of the crazy speed, and being like invulnerable to attacks they do get hit with with the crazy paired up resistance and defense. I was basically just using that 4-man team near the end and bum-rushing bosses.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun, since it seemed like you really had a lot of agency over which characters lived or died with the pairing system, where in previous games it seemed like you were completely at the mercy of their level-up qualities on whether or not a character would just be totally useless. A strong recommendation to even people who didn't like FE previously, just because of how forgiving the casual mode is, and how well implemented the pairing up system is.

Da facilmente pra entender como esse jogo salvou a franquia, mas ele é superestimado pra caralho

It's not "good" but it's fucking hilarious and so, so busted

Having your writing be carried by side content doesn't make me care abt the story or characters more.

I remember having a good time playing this game, but the drastic difference in writing quality and volume between the major and minor characters stuck with me as well. Good maps though

Every corny anime shlock game they release with the words Fire Emblem tacked on the title makes me sour on this game a little more, but if you look at this game in a vacuum you'll be left with a very solid SRPG that brought a lot to the table at a time when the entire genre felt stale. Lots of innovations in this game.

It's like chess, but with war, and anime, and Chrom. And we all know chess is much better with Chrom. It's also nothing like chess.

Casual fun in story, characters, and gameplay that does not hold up to the rest of the series. Not fun to play anymore as a Fire Emblem veteran

No matter how much my friends try, I refuse to marry anyone who isn't Chrom.

Mi primer, y por ahora único, Fire emblem.

this game was the first step into realizing i liked men

Ok, so playing this game again, without the childhood bias, its not as good as I believed it to be. I think the story is among the best the franchise has to offer but man... the gameplay is kinda ass. Firstly, the difficulty is fucked. Hard mode is peepee baby time and lunatic is stat inflated up the ass. Lunatic forces players, mostly early, to play in very specific strategies and the maps are designed poorly on top of that. Most of the time, you get rushed by 100 enemy units in these maps, the solution? Send in your overpowered main character unit to one tap every living creature. The optimal way to play the game is have a couple dudes, around 4-5 that get all the exp then you slap 4-5 stat stick characters on those guys. Its why the game lets you have around 9-10 units most times. Half your units are never meant to see the light of day and just be stat sticks. You also have to make sure all your good units are tanky enough to survive the absolute horseshit ambushes that occur. This was also a problem I had in three houses. When my units eat shit and die cause some units spawn out of thin air on top of mine, it not very fun. Its a trial and error mechanic, where my units die, then I reset then try again, or if youre on casual, you just play the rest of the level with half your team missing. This game is mostly a power fantasy where the custom character who has inflated stats up the ass, just steam rolls everything while all your friends die. I remember when I was a kid, I beat the final levels with my whole party dying and just soloing the level. As a SRPG, this is like a cardinal sin. If it had better designed maps that werent just zerg rushes, and a better adjusted difficulty, it would probably retain its 9/10 rating I previously gave it. I think it speaks volumes when lunatic+ where its the same thing but enemy units have random skills, can be impossible to beat in the early levels.

I played 40 hours of this shit and didn't think to consider looking up if there was a gay marriage mod or not until after it ended. Ain't I fucking stupid! Anyway, I loved this a lot more than I thought I would!!!!! Now, I get to stare dauntingly at FE Fates on my plate next.....god help me.

Game is incredibly whack.
Story, characters, art and music are all neat and that but from a gameplay standpoint this game is hilarious, it feels like it rewards you for dumping every point of exp into like 5 guys because if you try to plan out and past around chapter 10 your not so well fed units will just get smited down by ambush spawns.

Incredibly funny.

Dont get me wrong, time travel stories can be very hit or miss, but this one didn't miss. Granted the twists were more often than not predictable but by giving romance options this game truely opened a pandora's box for the fire emblem franchise as a whole.

The more I think about this game the more I realize I barely care about it? It just doesnt do anything for me

The heart and soul poured into this title by devs who knew this was the last shot Fire Emblem would have before being canned alone makes this an amazing title and I will not stand for Awakening slander

Chrom is cool, gameplay is the worst in the series tho
