I view the Football Manager games as a collective entity, so this review applies to the entire franchise rather than just FM20.
Football Manager is a game I revisit almost every year, although I don't invest as much time in it as I did when I was younger. Typically, after a single season (sometimes even less), I find myself losing motivation to continue. In the past, I would spend countless hours and seasons playing, setting personal challenges such as leading a team to glory or transforming a lower-tier team into a powerhouse. While my playtime has decreased over time, I still hold a deep appreciation for this game. The first of its kind that I ever played was Player Manager 98/99 (playing with Benfica) on the PlayStation 1, followed by Championship Manager 2001/2002 (playing with Manchester United) on PC some years later. Those titles, during their era, were truly remarkable and kept me hooked for countless hours. In Football Manager, I have played with a variety of teams, but my go-to choices have often been Real Madrid and, in recent years, Benfica. However, I've also enjoyed managing teams like Inter, Monza, Pinhalnovense, Portugal, Costa Rica, Porto, Derby County, and many more that I can't recall at the moment. Exploring different clubs and national teams (both high-end and low-end) adds to the diversity and excitement of the game.

This one's for Yuri Giovanella, the greatest regen striker I've ever had.
He may not have had insane PA, but in 3 seasons he pulled 20 goals for us consistently and scored 42 in a single season , including 29 in the league to guarantee Sporting CP their first ever Liga NOS title since 2002 in unbeaten fashion.
Shoutouts to Luis Monteiro, the CAM who scored 10 and assisted 17 and eventually moved on to Real Madrid following my departure.
Dirceu Lucas, who went from Brazil Serie A relegation to POTS in a 27 goals, 17 assists season. Moved on to Barcelona where he also accomplished great stuff.
and finally, to Francisco Conceicao, the only real player in that lethal front 4 that won us the title. Signed from rivals FC Porto, he scored 18 and assisted 27, including 17 in the league that season.
Good luck in Ajax, man. You're gonna stun the world.

It's hard to put a objective analysis playing FM for 15 years+, but there's no competitor to it, other games in this genre try to copy FM but the only one that comes close is OOTP and even OOTP suffers from many problems like mods, UI and others.
FM is incredible and even if they don't change a lot of things from one year to another, the pleasure to take a small team to the championship will always be terrific.

Was hopeful to get into football manager after really loving fifa career mode for so long, but struggled to fully grasp it all, never really got to play all that much because I was confused.

Football Manager se va mejorando cada año. Es un juego muy completo pero no es para todos los públicos, por lo menos yo creo que va dirigido especialmente a la gente que le gusta la gestión de un club de fútbol. Los gráficos de los partidos ya se han quedado bastante anticuados, pero en cuanto al resto de aspectos que ofrece este juego es tremendamente completo, especializado y realista. Muy buen juego. 8,7/10

Cada vez mais cheios de coisas desnecessárias.
La obsesión de ésta franquicia por simular de la forma más fiel posible la experiencia de ser un entrenador le lleva a unos niveles de micro gestión de cada una de sus muchísimas opciones que me resulta tediosa. Que la experiencia se sienta más como un trabajo y no tanto como un videojuego es parte indudable de su identidad y éxito pero para pasar las horas muertes en frente de un libro de Excel ya tengo mi trabajo. Y en él al menos me pagan por hacerlo.
